W-Komura f1.8, 36mm LTM

Manufactured by Sankyo Kohki Japan which ceased operations in the early 80s. This particular lens was supposedly made only for one year, 1963. If there are other users of this lens out there please say hello.

  1. Hi

So you found the lens and finder kit in an antique store in Japan?

How is contrast compared to a Canon 35/1.8 for example or the nikkor 35/1.8.

    Thanks

    1. I found the lens in the antique store pictured above which is in the USA. I don't have those lenses you mentioned but have the Canon 35mm f2 LTM - https://www.flickr.com/photos/je2a3/albums/72157661788189601/page3 - which I think is sharper and offers more contrast.

    2. Hi thanks for the reply. I too think the canon 35/f2 is underrated. The komura 28/3.5 is a fine lens. Some say the vc 28/3.5 now out of production was modeled on the Komura.

Btw what does 'labs' refer to?

    3. AFAIK, there might be a connection between Sankyo Kohki Komura and Y.K Optical which produced a 21mm f2.8 and a 28mm f3.5 in LTM under the following brands: Avenon, Bower, Kobalux, Pasoptik, etc. IIRC, Adorama sold these lenses too.
